The STR Ordinance
South Padre Island has a Short-Term Rental (STR) ordinance which was designed to balance the quality of life for our island residents with the tourism that drives our economy. This ordinance among many other requirements includes the requirement of a 24/7 contact within one hour’s reach of the property in the event of a complaint, disturbance, or property emergency. This means that anyone on our island can find the responsible party for any vacation rental.
You can also find out if a property is properly registered for short-term vacation rental and if not, we encourage you to report this to the City of South Padre Island.
